Save Your Marriage In 5 Minutes A Day - Book Review

"Save Your Marriage In 5 Minutes A Day" written by Bonnie Jacobson and Alexia Paul is a wonderful book to read for a step in your healthy marriage! It was so good, I didn't want to finish the last two chapters because I didn't want it to end!

The way the title is put, It made me expect this book to be more focused on getting your marriage back together, but it's about sweet little tips to help your marriage and make it that much happier! My marriage is a happy one so I was very grateful for my assumption to be wrong ;) The tips it gives can be very useful too. I think everyone, no matter how happy their marriage seems, they can always use some helpful tips to help them along the way. Some tips are based on giving ideas to not sound so rude to your partner, if something is bothering you. Like, let's say your partner always does something that you can't stand, and you think they're reasoning in doing it is based on your assumption. Instead of getting upset with them because you assume they did something...why not talk to them about it instead of just assuming you know the answer. There's so many great tips in this book that can make you understand your spouse better and bring you closer together. I really recommend any married couple to read this, whether your marriage is wonderful..or on the bridge to breaking. You can always pull your side to keep trying and learn new ways to keep a happy marriage.

My Earth Day Challenge

As I previously posted, I challenged you to make an Earth Day recycled dining area. I hope some of you decided to do this too!! I would love to see photo's if you have :)

For my recycled dining area, I laid an old fitted sheet down on the table, as the tablecloth. I sewed cloth napkins from an old white sheet and used a paper towel tube, cut into strips for the napkin holders & decorated them with clear pebbles. The centerpiece of the table are recycled flowers. For the pink flower, it was part of an apple juice jug, cut and painted, then glued onto a wooden dowel, also painted. The red flower was made from a lid of a yogurt container, cut, glued, and painted; also on a wooden dowel. The flowers were placed in a painted soup can-lined with ribbon & a bow. And inside the can were rocks holding the dowels in place and some fake Easter grass made of plastic :)

I wanted to do so much more but my son ended up getting sick :( And I ran out of good ideas that i could do in such a short time lol.

I made a meal of basic finger foods; being a meaty roll loaf sided with pickles and orange slices.

And here's the finished dining area.

That was our Earth Day :)

Would LOVE to see your photo's if you participated.
Drop me a link in the comments and I'll check it out!

I CHALLENGE YOU: For Earth Day

As you know, tomorrow, Friday, April 22nd, (2011) Is EARTH DAY! So what I want to do is challenge YOU, the reader of this, to do all you can to set up a recycled dining area. Make different decor pieces, table centerpieces, whatever, just decorate your area to prepare a meal for Earth Day. For example... Use plastic bottles to make flowers, paper towel tubes for napkin holders, sew your own table cloth, weave place mats from old papers...ect ect....Google is FULL of ideas to get you started.
I started on my "decor" this morning! I will plan to have mine all finished by tomorrow for our dinner, and I will share once I've completed it :)

So make sure to get busy on yours ;) I look forward to seeing your Earth Day decor!!

God Gave Us Two - Book Review

"God Gave Us Two" is another children's book written by Lisa Tawn Bergen. The book is filled with cute illustrations and is an excellent way to teach children about a new baby coming. A lot of young kids have a hard to understanding why mama's and daddy's decide to have another baby...they tend to think that they will be forgotten or unloved. This book helps teach the child that they will be loved just as much and how great it will be for them to be a big brother or big sister. Very good book for a parent looking for a way to explain to their child, that a new baby is coming and they are still, and always, loved. My son enjoyed it, although we're not expecting a baby...when the day comes and we do, I will find it very helpful!!

Review on My New SHARK Vaccum

After almost 6 years of having a bigger, heavy duty, and LOUD vacuum, we decided it was time to invest in a new one. We were so tired of our ears aching from our previous, hefty vacuum, we wanted something much more compact and quieter. We were shopping in Bed, Bath & Beyond and my husband found the cordless shark one! We were able to short live, test it out, and found that it was incredibly quieter then our old one and decided to take a jump and buy this one. The cordless shark vacuum has been amazing! We have only owned it for about 2 weeks now but we love it. It makes vacuuming so much easier! Without having to have the cord tangling around or getting in the way, it makes vacuuming more enjoyable and no one is tripping over anything :) The carpet in our apartment where we stay now, is similar to gym carpet so it makes for a double easy clean up. I haven't had the chance to vacuum thicker carpet but I did try it out on my bath mat and it still sucks up, just as well. It leaves a nice clean look to it also :) I find myself using it several times a day, because between my messy 3 year old- crafts, snacks, and meals-it becomes much needed! I love that I can just plug it in at night to let it charge for the next day. I would like if the battery life lasted a bit longer, but it works all through the day and maybe a partial, next day, before needing charged. I like that it is bag less and filter less. The area that stores the dust, however, does fill up fast, depending on the messes that need cleaned, but it is still so much easier then a regular, larger vacuum. It has a bit of a "Swivel" handle so you can turn it and fit it between things. Sometimes I find myself going too fast with it and bump into the wall though! Haha. I have always been one to love vacuuming so I just find myself enjoying this more and more :) I also love that it has a switch to where you can use it on bare floors too. That helps if you don't have a lot of time to sweep. I would totally recommend this vacuum to someone who's looking for a compact piece that gets the job done. It would also be very handy to ones who have stairs in the house. You don't have to lug a long a huge base or find a spot for the cord to plug in to. I love this piece and I hope I find it lasting me a long time! :)

Home-Ec 101 - Chapter Review

Home-Ec 101: Skills for Everyday Living - Cook it, Clean it, Fix it, Wash it   I was able to review a chapter of the book "Home-Ec 101" written by Heather Solos; through One2One Network. The chapter review was so interesting and helpful. It reminded me why I love being a woman! Getting to be a homemaker for my family and I enjoy every minute of it. Sure there may be some stressful times, but I am so very thankful that I get to have this position. Through reading this chapter, it reminded me to add color into my cooking. I'm always trying out new recipes and looking for ways to add color and variety into the meals I prepare. I got some good tips of different food to add in. Being that I only got to read a chapter of this book, it still reeled me in and left me wanting to read more!! Very good!

You can find Home-Ec 101 available for purchase on Amazon.

Love At Last Sight - Book Review

Love At Last Sight written by Kerry and Chris Shook has touched my heart completely. They cover all relationships in this book, giving you good examples at how to really interact with the people around you. Sometimes we get too carried away with things in ourselves and don't realize how much of a strain that puts on our relationships with other people.

In this book, it brings out how to really love each other in the way God intended it to be. Giving encouragement and advice on how to move forward without looking back with regrets. There were so many pieces in this book that touched my heart. I really recommend this to EVERYONE and hope that you will find it and read it. Open your heart up and let it help you..let it heal you... I know I hope to always 'love at last sight'. Life is a journey and we have to be on the full ride to really enjoy it. So get on board and let it touch your life.

L'Oreal One Sweep Eye Shadow and Mascara

As a teenager, I use to wear a lot more makeup...eye liner, eye shadow, mascara, foundation, blush...all of it. When I got a little older and had my son, I started to not wear it so much. My husband has always been the kind of guy to prefer more "natural" looks and he hates makeup lol. So for him, I decided I would downgrade on my makeup..since, you know, he is the one I want to be impressing!! :P I usually just wear eye liner with a touch up wipe of Vaseline to my eye lashes to keep them up. (a great substitute for mascara!) They are some what long as it is, so it works out for me.

I recently received L'Oreal's One Sweep Eye Shadow and Mascara from bzzagent to test and review. I loved it! It's been quite awhile since I've worn mascara and had forgotten how long my eyelashes get with it on. The eye shadow was very pretty and not too dark for my skin tone. I expected it to show up darker so it was a surprise to me, but a good one. The eye illuminator felt kind of pointless to me. It didn't really change the appearance of my eyelashes much, it more just put sparkles across them. Putting on this makeup made me feel beautiful and that's something I don't feel very often :( So it was a good product for me :) Since I don't wear mascara and eye shadow too often, I was going to give it away to a friend, but after I put it on, I decided I want to keep it for myself, for special occasions :) Also, it washes off nicely with no caked on after effects like others I have tried.

Thanks to Bzzagent for allowing me to try out these products!

Cute Finds On Our trip To Hirons

The Hirons store is so close to us, so we go there on occasion to find cute things :)
My son enjoys going because I usually let him pick out so fun things!!
They always have good deals and this time we found...

These creepy ants..we got them to use as a trick on daddy for April fool's day but different plans occurred so we never got to! :( BUT we are going to surprise him with these sooner or later and at least this way he won't be expecting it so it will be even better!! :P

Next we found a cute little mailbox, on sale for only 99 cents and lil man wanted it..so I figured why not...Any ideas what we could do with it?? lol. Then my son found some more tiny spiders to put inside and also a scorpion stamper.
And I found this magnet...I had to get it!! It just is so adorable and funny :) And I realized..I LOVE magnets...I may have started a collection... :P

And That was our trip to Hirons. Fun indeed.

Monkey T-Shirt Review

I got to review this cute monkey t shirt from tshirtprinting.net!

The material of the shirt is comfy and relaxing...I'm a little sad to say, it's quite big on me :( I ordered it in an x-large thinking it would be made small, because most companies make their shirts smaller then what the tag says! I'm glad to say this company follows all rules in sizing, that's for sure!! :) So I will most likely use it as a jammy shirt... or let my hubby sleep in it for himself hahaha. The design of the monkey on the front seems to be very stable into the fabric, like it will be sure to last through several washes. tshirtprinting.net has many varieties of clothing and designs to customize your own piece, so be sure to check them out and maybe purchase some awesome new shirts! :)
